lyrics

Dina grew up in a factory town,
But the profits dried up, and the company pulled out.
She walked outta school at the age of fifteen;
Never looked back, can't admit the defeat.

Dina met Bobby at the Sumter County Fair;
He was twelve years older and he drove a Corvette.
Though her Daddy didn't like it, she ran off and got hitched;
By the time she was twenty, she'd had three kids.

The Corvette was a dream painted in red.
But a dream will turn to nightmares instead.
Dina loved the Corvette.

Dina and Bobby weren't the fortunate kind,
But they had a double wide at the Carolina Pines.
Bobby was a trucker 'til he got a DUI;
The family went on welfare, the 'Vette went up on blocks.

Times had gotten desperate; the family's breaking bad
With Bobby slinging crystal and Dina on her back.
With some money rolling in, they could try to patch the cracks;
Bobby got a set of wheels and painted the 'Vette black.

The Corvette couldn't keep those children fed,
But it eased a mighty hunger in her head.
Dina loved the Corvette.
Loved the Corvette.

Bobby'd gotten violent; he was beating on the kids.
Dina found out, and she kinda lost her shit:
Started sneaking 'round behind his back, making shady plans,
Saved up a little money, bought herself a minivan.

One night Bobby came home wasted, Dina saw her chance:
She whacked him on the head with an iron frying pan,
Dragged his body to the 'Vette, took off both the plates,
Strapped him in the driver's seat and pushed the 'Vette into a lake.

The Corvette was Bobby's final place of rest.
They all believed he'd packed up his car and left.
They never found the Corvette.
Never found the Corvette.
They never found the Corvette.
Never found the Corvette.
